The highest efficiency solar cell—Pluto Technology by Suntech

As China’s top solar company, Suntech is always the focus of visitors to SNEC show. Among its numerous products, the most attractive one is the newly released Pluto Technology. Suntech’s breakthrough Pluto technology has already achieved over 18% conversion efficiency on monocrystalline photovoltaic (PV) cells and close to 17% conversion efficiency on polycrystalline PV cells in mass production, well above conventional screen-printed crystalline PV cells.

The patent-pending Pluto technology is based on the PERL technology, and developed in conjunction with the University of New South Wales in Australia. Pluto could improve power output by approximately 12% above conventional screen-printed PV cells. According to Suntech, Pluto technology is currently mainly used in foreign countries, but it will come back to Chinese market after this show. In this case, this Sino-Australian technology miracle can benefit the market of both national and international.
